Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon is an adventure, fantasy genre anime series that was first released in 2020 but prepared as a sequel to an older anime series. The anime series, licensed by Viz Media, is inspired by the manga series by Rumiko Takahashi, published between 1996 and 2008. ‘Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon’, a sequel to ‘Inuyasha: The Final Act‘ anime adapted from the same manga, was created by Sunrise, the same studio as the original series. Originally aired on ytv, the anime has also been broadcast globally on Hulu TV and Funimation. In this way, the second season of the anime series, which can be watched from all over the world, is now highly curious. What do we know about anime so far, is the second season already confirmed?
What is the plotline of the anime?
The daughters of Sesshomaru and Inuyasha embark on a journey beyond time. In feudal Japan, Semi-Demon twins Towa and Setsuna fall apart during a forest fire. While Towa desperately searches for her younger sister, she enters a mysterious tunnel that sends her to modern-day Japan, where she will be found and raised by Kagome Higurashi’s brother Sota and his family.
After ten years, this tunnel, which connects the two eras, reopens and connects Towa and Setsuna, now working as a Demon Hunter for Kohaku. However, Setsuna does not remember anything about Towa. With the addition of Inuyasha and Kagome’s daughter Moroha, three young women embark on an adventure to find their lost past between two eras.
After the first season;
It was a great final, and it was drama-loaded. Fans couldn’t believe that Setsuna really died. Sesshōmaru came for him. The sword he gave Towa seems to have a different detail because he asked her to use it. What is behind the sword will probably be one of the details mentioned in the second season. Although Sesshōmaru seems like he doesn’t care, he actually values his children more than anything else. Even Rin is willing to give up now; she’s indeed in great pain. The tone of her voice when she spoke to Towa was full of emotion. Moraha’s strength is not overlooked; it is already a matter of curiosity what she can do in the second season. If she develops his spiritual powers, it seems that no one can stand in his way. The fact that Kirara was with her was one of the details that the audience liked in the first season. Another expectation of the fans from the next season is the arrival of Inu and Kagome.
Will there be a second season of Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon?
The anime’s first season is aired from October 3, 2020, to March 20, 2021. According to the announcement made right after the first season was completed, the anime has been renewed for a second season. News of the renewal came with a visual teaser poster after the anime’s first season finale. Season two was officially titled ‘Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon: The Second Act‘.
Related to the news, Rumiko Takahashi, who participates in the work as the main character design, said,
“The first season has ended in a very difficult place, but I think that the second season, such as solving various mysteries and the whereabouts of the parent generation, is full of highlights. I’m sorry, what will happen !?”
Disc sales of the anime begin on March 24. However, the second season’s decision was made without seeing the results of the disc sales, which is rare in the anime world. The series, which reached 170k followers on Twitter, is top-rated in Japan, and thanks to this popularity, the anime did not have trouble getting approval for the second season.
When is the release date of the second season?
The second season of the anime has been confirmed to be produced by Sunrise studio. The second season of the anime is expected to consist of 24 episodes as in the first season. We had said, “A production of 24 episodes will take at least one year. The early renewal contains signals that the anime may be released at the end of 2021” and the release date decision shared on April 26, 2021, didn’t surprise us. It has been announced that the anime will air in Fall 2021. (Most probably in October).
Update on June 30, 2021: It is announced that the anime will start to be aired on October 2, 2021, on Yomiuri TV and NTV in Japan.
