The Dragon Prince Season 4: Release Date, is it announced?

The Dragon Prince is a Canadian-American fantasy and action anime series. Although the fact it doesn’t have Japanese touch and its drawings is made by modern technology makes it difficult to call it an ‘anime’ exactly, the Dragon Prince is one of Netflix’s most successful animations when we put aside the confusion of definition. Prepared by the collaboration of Bardel Entertainment and Wonderstorm studios, the anime is an original production that is not based on any manga or a light novel. The series, which started with the season named ‘Moon’ in 2018, was met with the audience on November 22, 2019, with its last season named ‘Sun’. A combat-based multiplayer video game was recently announced for the Emmy-winning anime series but fans have been waiting for a new season for a long time.  So has Netflix renewed the series for a fourth season? When will it be released?

About “The Dragon Prince”, the storyline and details

The Dragon Prince tells about two human princes as they embark on an unexpected journey to bring peace to their country with an assassin elf sent to kill them. This strange trio aims to take the dragon egg to the elven realm safely. In the creative seat of the series, Aaron Ehasz, whom we know from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Although it does not make great promises to the animation part, the series’s dubs and story are quite successful. It is especially nice to hear different accents in the dubs. Dubbers are Rayla by Paula Burrows, Callum by Jack De Sena, and Ezran by Sasha Rojen.

You can find a few things from most fantasy and epic TV shows or movies in popular culture in the series. We can understand this very easily with the reference “Winter is coming” in the first parts. The Dragon Prince, the first season, was first aired on September 14, 2018, has an IMDB score of 8.4. Season 3 has increased the average score of the series compared to the previous seasons.

What is The Dragon Prince Season 4: Plotline?

Let’s take a look at what has happened in the series so far and what is expected in the next season. We state that the rest of our article contains strong spoilers.

The animation is set in a fantasy world on the continent of Xadia, rich in magic derived from six key elements. Centuries ago, Xadia’s dragons, elves, and humans lived in peace. However, people who could not benefit from magic naturally began to use dark magic that feeds on the life essence of magical creatures.

As a result, they were driven west, and the continent was split in two by a huge river of lava. A thousand years later, the Catholic human king Harrow and his adviser, the dark magician Viren, killed the dragon king and destroyed his supposed heir’s egg. In retaliation, the elven assassins attempt to kill Harrow and his heir, Ezran. Ezran, his half-brother Callum, and assassin Rayla discover that the egg is not gone, and they undertake to return the egg to Xadia. Viren seizes power after Harrow’s murder and sends his children Claudia and Soren to kill the princes and save the egg. At the end of the first season, the egg hatches into Dragon Prince, Zym.

In season two, Viren tries to bring the other human kingdoms together to fight Xadia. He also forms a secret alliance with the mysterious, imprisoned elven wizard Aaravos, with whom he communicates through a magic mirror and a caterpillar-like creature. Meanwhile, Callum connects with Sky Arcanum, becoming the first human to gain direct access to magic. At the end of the second season, Viren is imprisoned for treason due to illegally use Harrow’s seal and abuse his black magic powers. Ezran learns of his father’s death and returns to Katolis to take the throne.

In season three, Ezran is manipulated to abdicate amid the pressure of war and joins Callum and Rayla to return Zym home to the Storm Tower. Returning to power, Viren leads human armies against Xadia and amasses even more dark magic with Aaravos’ help. Soren is flawed for resisting his father’s evil ambitions. Viren’s army is defeated by the elves and their allies. Rayla throws herself and Viren from the top of the Spire, and Callum uses the Sky spell to save Rayla. Zym returns to his mother. Claudia reanimates Viren using dark magic, and Aaravos’ caterpillar goes into metamorphosis.

The expectations for the fourth season are as follows: With the reawakening of Zym’s mother and the rekindling of friendship between Humans and Elves, everything seemed to be shaping up towards a happy ending. It is revealed that Viren may have died after falling from the mountaintop with Rayla, but he was brought back to life two days later by his daughter Claudia. Worried about Aaravos’ whereabouts, Claudia marks the giant cocoon on the wall of the cave. Not knowing how much power Viren was absorbing from the baby dragon Zym, he puts Aaravos’ creature into metamorphosis. When the creature emerges from its cocoon, it will potentially be equivalent to the strength of dragons. Viren, Claudia, and Aaravos are still a serious threat. Not so small anymore! The relationship between Callum and Rayla will be even more fun to explore next season after they finally admit their love for each other.

On the other hand, Rayla needs to recover Viren’s coins containing the trapped souls of the other Moon Shadow Elves. Callum continued to grow stronger with his magic and will likely continue to improve his abilities. Expect to see him in a culminating fight with Viren or Claudia, magic versus magic, and it should be epic. And Ezran, on the other hand, will make a wonderful kingdom with his friends.
