The Day I Became a God is a beloved anime series that started in the fall of 2020 in the fantasy genre. Even if it started like fantasy and continues like science fiction and has plenty of drama in general, and it would not be wrong to call it a slice of life as well. Contrary to the usual, not adapted from a manga or light novel, the series was created originally as an anime. Jun Maeda wrote this original script. P.A. Works whom known for Irozuku Sekai No Ashita Kara, has created the anime. Originally, the anime’s first season aired on Tokyo MX, GTV, GYT, BS11, ABC, Mētele, BBT between October 11, 2020 – December 27, 2020. After Funimation licensed the series, it gained viewers from all over the world. After the first season of the series, fans began to wonder about a second season. So, will the series have a second season?
What was the theme of The Day I Become God?
At the end of high school’s last summer vacation, Youta Narukami meets a young girl named Hina while he spends his days preparing for the university entrance exams. She claims she is the “all-knowing god.” He would be confused and would not believe Hina, who said that the world would end in 30 days. After witnessing Hina’s divine vision, Youta begins to believe that Hina’s powers are real. Pure and childish despite her supernatural powers, Hina decides to stay in Youta’s house for some reason. Thus, their unforgettable summer begins before the end of the world.
Season 2 plot predictions
Everyone had prepared for her death at the end, but it did not happen. Compared to many drama anime, for this time, we cannot say it was a sad ending, but it anyway made the audience cry in most of the episodes. Because there were those, we lost. Although we have gained back Hina, she will learn everything from scratch now, and she has no part of her memory. But fortunately, she will live. Since it was not a manga adaptation, most people did not expect them to link the story this way. Fans who wanted to see Izanami and Youta as a couple returned with empty hands. Maybe we can see this relationship in a possible second season. We hope there will be a second season where we can see Hina like the old days.
Will there be a second season of the anime?
Neither P.A. Works nor broadcasters have not yet renewed the anime for a second season. It can take a long time to see a new season of anime or a renewal. Considering the series was released last fall, we think it’s pretty early for seeing a renewal. So is a new season of the series possible? We can only speculate on this issue for now.
One of the most important criteria for the continuation of anime series is the manga status, which is the source material. However, as we mentioned before, The Day I Became a God is not a manga adaptation. Although the series is a manga series written by Jun Maeda and illustrated by Zen, it was adapted from that anime.
The series’ popularity score is 66.8%. This score is average, but it is still promising for a second season. However, the real critical point is what the series can tell in the second season. When we look at the series in general, the last episode was a final episode, and there was no clear point. The series doesn’t have much to offer in season two, and it did a typical finale for a slice of life anime. Most viewers knew that the episode they watched was a finale.
When we look at the other productions of the studio P.A. Works, we see that they did not create anime’s second season mostly. It seems that it is not their working style for the animations. We would like to say with regret that we are not expecting a new season, considering that the story is also complete. If we have a surprise, which is very unlikely, we think that the average production time will be one year. If a renewal is confirmed, we could see a new season at the beginning of 2022.
