Run with the Wind, also known as Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru, is an anime series from the Production I.G. anime studio. The series completed its 1st season with its episode, In the Wind, which aired on March 26, 2019. The series, originally licensed by Sentai Filmworks like Food Wars, is also available on Crunchyroll. The second season of the beloved anime series is curious. Will there be a second season of the anime? When will it be released?
Plot of the Anime: Run with the Wind
Kakeru Kurahara, the former good runner of Sendai Josei High School, is chased for stealing from a convenience store. Thanks to Haiji Kiyose, another runner from the same university, he escapes this chase. Haiji was impressed by Kaker’s runner skills and agility. He persuades him to live in Chikusei-sou, the rundown apartment where Haiji lives with eight students. With the effect of financial difficulties, Kakeru has to accept this offer.
However, the house that Haiji persuaded to live together is not an ordinary house. At his welcoming party for Kekura, Haiji reveals a secret: The Apartman is actually a dormitory of the Kansei University Athletics Club. Haiji announces his aim to participate in the Hakone Ekiden, one of Japan’s most important university marathon relay races. But his friends are not interested in his idea. Anyway, all residents except Haiji and Kakeru are quite inexperienced in running. Will he be able to convince them and reach his goal 4 months before the event?
Manga Status of the anime series
The anime series, which attracted great attention with its first season, was turned into an anime on September 22, 2006. The novel version was written by Shion Miura. The series, which was translated into a manga by Sorata Unno in Monthly Young Jump magazine, appeared in 2018 with an anime as a manga adaptation. The Manga series, from which the anime series was adapted, does not continue today, and its story is complete. With the increasing popularity of anime last year, the Manga series began to be translated into English.
Will there be a second season of Run with the Wind?
Last update on 6.12.2020: At the time of writing, the anime still has not been renewed for a second season. The manga isn’t ongoing as well.
- Season 2 predictions have been added to the article.
Run with the Wind started on October 2, 2018, and the anime completed the first season after 23 episodes. The series has not yet been approved by Production I.G or the broadcasters for season 2. There is still hope for now, and we can say that a sequel can be created.
However, it is worth considering that the anime series took its story from the novel in 2006, as we mentioned before. The source material was a novel and they completely adapted the ending, so unfortunately it seems difficult to see another season. When we receive official information, we will share it with you.
Season 2 predictions of the anime
The 3-year jump at the end of the series made everyone emotional and managed to satisfy the second season request for a moment. The dog has puppies; everyone is on their way. It all started with one sentence and ended with that sentence: “Hey, do you like running?”. The ending of the series was very satisfying for many viewers. The story was completed with success, just like in the manga. However, fans can’t stop wanting a second season.
The only thing left behind by the series is; Who did Hana Chan choose? Haiji or Kakeru, or what about twins? When asked which one did Hana Chan choose in the last scene, her facial expression seems to be not both. Season two can answer these questions, but we don’t think the producers will make any effort on this.
