Cagaster of an Insect Cage, meeting with the audience this year on Netflix, is an anime adaptation of the manga series written by Kachō Hashimoto. The anime was most recently released with its first season on February 6, 2020, and consisted of 12 episodes. Created by Studio Kai, a Japanese animation studio Gonzo, the second season of the anime is curious. The questions most asked by fans are, “Will there be a second season?” and “When will the second season air?“
Cagaster of an Insect Cage Plot and Review
Netflix’s anime, originally named Mushikago no Cagaster, takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. Towards the end of the twenty-first century, a disease, later known as “Cagaster,” devastated humanity. Those infected with this disease have begun to turn into giant insects. Infected ones have started to eat people who are not transformed. Within a short time, two-thirds of humanity either turned into insects or died.
The story in the series takes place in 2125, thirty years after the appearance of the Cagasters. Young Kidou, nicknamed Far Eastern, is a destroyer. Destroyers are the types who exterminate insects in exchange for some money and are not liked by the public. One day while returning from a mission, he notices an insect attacked vehicle. The man in the car is seriously injured and is about to die. His last words are to deliver his daughter Ilie, unconscious, to Kidou, and he dies, asking him to find his mother. Kidou takes Ilıe with him to the city where they live, and events begin to develop here.
Cagaster of an Insect Cage makes a good and mysterious start by presenting the Cagaster, which is a different extraordinary threat. In the later episodes, we witness the people’s struggle in the series that follows a slower tempo. We also come across brutal scenes in the series where Cagaster eats people. However, we cannot say that these scenes are too many.
Anime also manages to impress the audience with the city it takes place. The series, which takes place in the Middle East geography, although it does not take place in a specific country, was inspired by the countries’ cultures in this region. The series, whose characters are in normal anime standards, attract attention with more background drawings. We can say that their music is of average quality.
Will there be a season 2 of Cagaster of an Insect Cage?
So far, there is no confirmation from Netflix for the new season of the series. There is no signal from the producers that the anime series will continue as well. However, we can make predictions as a result of some evaluations. When we evaluate the series’ ratings, unfortunately, we cannot say that it is a very promising production for Season 2. Still, it is worth mentioning that Gonzo is working on many anime and is a generous studio for new seasons. If Netflix is satisfied with this production financially – which we do not think there is much expense – it may give the series a chance for Season 2.
We can make the clearest forecast for season 2 by examining the manga situation. The manga of the series was published on the original website between 2005 and 2013, and in parallel, was published in Comic Ryu until 2015. Today, anime does not continue and consists of 7 volumes in total. Anime is currently adapted using most of the manga and its main lines. We can say that there is no major open point or question mark left.
Seeing a new season of the series seems possible only with Kachō Hashimoto’s release of a new manga volume. Even if this is unlikely, it is impossible to see Season 2 before the summer of 2021. (Evaluation: Very unlikely)
