The anime, which started to be published in 2020, is an anime adaptation of the manga written by Ryo Shirakome and illustrated by Takayuki. Directed by Kinji Yoshimoto, the anime series originally began airing on AT-X, Tokyo MX, SUN, BS11 local Japanese channels on July 8, 2019. The same studio team as Goblin Slayer, the anime by White Fox, licensed by Funimation, was also on Hulu TV. Except for the OVA episodes of the series, we watched the 13th episode titled “The Best at Being the Worst” on October 7, 2019. Fans are now wondering, has the series been renewed for a second season and when will it air?

What was the plotline of Arifureta?

Hajime Nagumo, 17, is an average otaku. His ordinary life, where he studied at night and slept at school, is reversed when he is called into a fantasy world with the rest of his class. In the world they go, they are treated like heroes with their friends and task with preventing the human race’s extinction. However, this event, which will be the dream of an otaku, becomes Hajime’s nightmare. Although all of his friends are blessed with divine powers, Hajime only has the ability to transform. His friends bully him because he is weak. A dungeon quest separates him from his group. Will Hajime survive in this dangerous world full of monsters?

The fans of the manga are divided into two for the anime. Some are admired; others are worried about the quality of the adaptation. Some people did not like CGI; they think it was uneven battle scenes, skipped scenes, and more. But studios managed to improve the quality a little more towards the last episodes. But it was not enough for some fans of the series. That’s why many opposed the season 2 release so as not to ruin the anime even more.

Kadir Ak
Hello, this is Kadir. I am the lead author of the blog you are reading. My fondness for TV series and Anime made me a good researcher about the release dates. I like to share my researches and analyses on the blog.

  1. I hate faceless characters like Kaori in anime series. He says like a joke, ‘I’ll make you fall in love with myself’. In the new season, the character we will not like has become clear. By the way, I think the drawings of the anime were insufficient, I hope we can see better drawings in the second season.

  2. I was delighted when they saw the overwhelming power of the shield hero at Tate no yuusha. And when they saw Hajime’s power, I felt good. It was a series that I liked in general. Unlike most people, I also found the cutscenes fun. Perhaps I wouldn’t like it that much if there was constant action. It was also good that the main characters were brutal. Usually, such characters always choose to forgive. I waited too long for him to kill the traitor in the finale, but it didn’t happen. Therefore, I am looking forward to the second season. If there will be a second season, the drawings and battle scenes should be better.

  3. This anime was a nice series for me, the character drawings were nice, but the monster drawings were bad. I was very excited that he meet friends again in the finale. Some of them didn’t like this finale but because they thought it was the finale. What they miss is that there will be a second season of Arifureta.

  4. Honestly, they should just renew Season 1 Episode 1 first in my opinion then make the rest of the second season. Anyway, I hope the next season will have better drawings than the last one and try not to use CG on monsters, vehicles, and some guns.

  5. I am very interested in this anime because the main character is ruthless, violent and scary.

  6. Not sure why people are banging on the art. It is extremely difficult to create a single episode of animation and constant harping about the quality of something you could never do only increases the likelihood we won’t see more. And in every animated series since the dawn of time the quality improves and it has zero to do with your whining. That all said the only part I didn’t dig is the way Hajime was physically violent with Shia. It made him look like and…

Yea why are they hating on the art if they hate so much go look at the manga or something. I like the art of these people making better drawings than the haters.

  7. The only thing I didn’t like about the series is how they kept repeating the same things over and over in the first half of season 1 and then in episode 5.5 the whole show was a recap! What a waste of an entire episode! Don’t get me wrong, I love the season overall, but if they could refrain from covering the same material repeatedly in the future I would greatly appreciate it.
